Holy Man (?)

This was during my travel last year to Srirangapatna. I spotted this person in the long stretch of shops in front of the SriRanga temple. He was moving around slowly asking for alms. I particularly like the calmness on his face and a look which says "I have seen it all".
This picture also happens to be Kanchana's (my wife) favourite :-)

I can see why she likes it - this is a wonderful shot. These guys are so much fun to capture. Here's one of my own: http://abhi.abhiandyuri.com/photoblog/index.php?id=20

There are almost none of that kind of people here in Poland (I suppose it's true for Europe generally). We're so materialistic (did you said he was asking for alms? ;]) that we almost forget what are the most important things in life. I know that everyone has his own view on what the life is but we're so money blinded. I wish that I'll spend some time in my life in the other way that I do now...

Thanks for a picture!

Cheers

Hi Abhi, yeah it is great fun to shoot this guys as they seem to have a lot of character and so removed from our urban lifestyles. Kanchana and I had seen your picture sometime back itself and loved it. In fact after seeing that picture, Kanchana urged me to post mine :-)

Hi Shyha, I can completely understand your feelings. I had the opportunity to travel to Europe a couple of times and the difference is very wide, especially in the rural areas of India. But what is endearing about these simple folks is that they seem to be more content and happy then us urban chaps!

Really quite nice. You captured the colors and the character on his face so nicely.
