Man with the Lamp

This is taken from my archives. I do not know what these guys are called but I have seen them since my childhood. They traditionally hang around Vaishnava temples (this one was taken at the Ranganathaswamy temple in Kalkunte) with a lamp in their hands and go around asking for alms. They also carry a cymbal with a small wooden stick to create a repetitive sound announcing their arrival.

Great one! Brilliant candid shot. Whenever I try any such shot or street photography, it feels as if everyone is staring me :). This guy (point and shoot) has some nice street shots. Check 'em out.
Thanks all of you!
Sudarshan - Thanks a tonne for giving me the name. I knew you would know who these guys are and was hoping that you would comment!
Varun - I too feel the same way but I just cannot resist capturing them! Zishaan is a great fav of mine. Thanks anyway for the link.
Kishore - Welcome to my blog. I have been a silent admirer of yours for long and having you visit mine is an honour.
