Colourful

Starting now with snaps from Srirangam, one of the most important Vaishnava shrines in South India.

Gopuram or gopura, a prominent feature of the Hindu temple architecture of South India, is the rising tower at the entrance of a temple.

The Gopuram of Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in Srirangam is one of the tallest Gopurams of South India. The Rajagopuram (the royal temple tower) rises from the base area of around 32500 sq feet and goes up to 196 feet, moving up in eleven progressively smaller tiers. It is incidentally the state symbol of the government of Tamil Nadu.

Comments:
It is a nice composition; a very welcome variation from shooting a gopuram 'on the face'. By making it off center and adding negative space you have made it very interesting.

Interesting perspective...it would have been an ordinary shot if it were taken head on...

Ya.. interesting composition.. When did u go to to Srirangam?
I guess, it's flooded now :(

Thanks guys for your comments! I do have some "in-the-face" shots too but I agree they are quite boring :-)

Satz - This was exactly a year back. I am sure with the rate at which it is pouring, the gopurams may also be deep in water. But maybe Srirangam is not Bangalore ;-)

I agree with the others. This is a very nice composition. The ratios are just right. And the perspective is flawless. Really nicely done. I like the colors too.

I've never been in that parts of India. Hopefully, if I get to visit again I will try to make it longer so I can explore. Thanks for the kind words.
